Barish is a Hindi web series developed by Ekta kapoor. It was released on a video on demand platform Alt Balaji and Zee5.
Asha Negi who plays the role of Gauravi (a Marthi Mulgi) who belongs to a simple middle class family. Sharman Joshi plays the millionaire Gujrati businessman named Anuj who believes in living a simple life also.
Asha and Sharman were a fresh pairing for a series and on a personal level I enjoyed the raw chemistry between the two. Talking about the rest of the cast Vikram Singh Chauhan who is seen as Aniket (Gauravi’s younger brother) stood out for me as a caring brother for his two sisters and a responsible son to his parents.
Priya Banerjee does a good job with her portrayal of Shreya Mehta Karmarkar Anuj’s youngest sibling. She is go getter kind of a person. Priya makes sure to grab all the attention of the audience whenever she comes into the frame.
On one hand we see Gauravi and Anuj’s relationship simple and these two are still figuring out the dynamics for their marriage. Shreya and Aniket know each other from a long time and the viewers see more passion in their affair.
Sheetal Tiwari in the role of Asmi was very relatable. A very chirpy cheerful bubbly girl. She is full of care and concern for her family yet she has her own set of dreams and desires.
Kunal Paravi and Benaf Patel as Sorab and Zenia is a welcome relief to watch when the screenplay becomes a little serious.
In my opinion the first season of Barish was more interesting than the second season. In the second season Sharman’s character Anuj goes through certain changes which I did not like. The changes in Anuj also went on to ruin his relationship with Gauravi which was not to my liking as well. The coming in of Jitendra’s character Jitu bhai was a forceful addition to the script of the second season to please the fans of the actor.
