Bollywood is the Indian Hindi language industry based in Mumbai. With the practice of nepotism in full swing, it is hard for the foreigner to make it big in the industry. Bollywood is a networking based place.
Audience likes to watch people onscreen with whom they can connect and relate to. Indian public tend to fancy people from overseas so they might accept them if the content is of top quality. There is language and dress up barriers faced by likes of Katrina kaif, Nora Fathehi, Amy Jackson and many more.
It is proud moment for India when people like Priyanka Chopra, Irfan Khan, Anil Kapoor are becoming global icons and foreign actors are trying to do something similar to these Bollywood celebrities.
Some performances of these white actors in Indian movies that are my favorite are as follows:
- Paul Blackthorne as Captain Russell in Lagaan is one character the viewers tends to hate and he is still remembered and loved for the outstanding performance even after so many years of the film being released.
- Rachel Shelley in Lagaan as Elizabeth Russell is one character the masses got emotionally attached to and showered love at her. Even if the character was the English side people felt bad for her as she did not her love interest and also had to leave India in the movie.
- Clive Standen from Namaste London: The actor is remembered for his looks as well as performance. While the viewers appreciate his good looks and hate him for his rude behavior with Katrina’s character in the film.
- Mish Bokyo- Queen: The character of Alexandra is well remembered for all the Support he gives Rani and secretly admires her.
- Mehdi Nebbou- English Vinglish: The French actor who played the role of a cook with so much subtlety. My favorite was his expressions and reactions in a particular situation in the film.
