Importance of Cameos in Bollywood?


Cameos are defined as small part in a film or Play that is usually played by a famous actor. The director gives the utmost importance to the main leads in the film. They are ones who have to uphold the responsibility of making or breaking the fate of the movie. The paparazzi also give all the limelight to these actors even during the promotional events.

In the cinematic world the key cast is in the spotlight in the narrative of the movie but the cameo performances remain with the audiences for ages. If Cameos are used aptly then it enhances the cinematic experience and it becomes the topic of discussion among people. The movie tends to reach the masses through the word of Mouth and becomes a Super hit at the Box -office.

Here is the List of Cameos in Movies the viewers have loved and are still fresh in their memory:

  • Amitabh Bachhan and Jaya Bachhan in KI&KA: The Cameo was shot in a way that it fits into the storyline perfectly and it also provides the necessary comic relief as a serious scene is going to follow between the characters of Arjun and Kareena.
  • Salman Khan in Kuch Kuch Hota hai: Aman is Anjali’s fiancé was not less than an actual proper character. He had all the qualities in him that a girl wants in her life partner. Though as an audience you know that Anjali will go back to Rahul but you still feel bad for Aman at the end.
  • Sharukh Khan in Ae dil hai Mushkil: This movie was all about surviving with love stories that don’t get completed due to various circumstances. It was surprising to see  the king of Romance play the character whose heart is broken yet he understands the strength and pride of one sided love that he feels for his Ex wife.
  • Akshay Kumar in OM Shanti Om: He showed of the skills of a comedian and an action hero in the movie.
  • Nawazuddin Siddiqui in New York: He plays the role of a person who is physically and mentally tortured by American authorities on basis of doubt on him because of his religion.
  • Akshay Kumar in Dil toh Pagal hai: Akshay kumar plays Ajay who wants to get married to Puja but sacrifices his love for his best friend Puja who loves Rahul.
  • Amitabh Bachchan in English Vinglish: It was the last movie of ShriDevi in Bollywood apart from the Cameo in Zero. Amitabh as a fellow passenger sitting beside Shashi in the plane helping her interpret the English movie was outright hilarious.
  • Jimmy Shergil in Munna Bhai: The portrayal was zaheer was remarkable and the bond between Munna and Zaheer is pretty enjoyable.
  • Ajay Devgun in Simmba: Simmba was an experiment with Ranveer Singh. Ajay Devgun was a planned surprise for the Singham fans.
  • Sharukh Khan in Heyy Baby: he plays the role of Boman Irani’s friend’s son who is thought of as a potential husband to Isha but later Aarush played by Akshay Kumar convinces him not to marry her and he is in love with Isha.
