A time leap in a show works as an alternate therapy when the existing story is exhausted. Sometimes it is introduced when the original story or the characters fail to get the show to the desired TRP. This time leap has to be taken in such a manner that the show doesn’t lose the connection with the viewers.
Eight shows that took the route of a time leap are as follows:
- Jodha Akbar: This show aired on zeetv. It enjoyed a successful run of around 2 years. Rajat Tokas as Akbar was a treat to watch. But it became essential to take a leap to add a pinch of freshness in the narrative.
- Prithvi Raj Chauhan: This show had to move its story a few years in the future to show the grownup Prithvi. Rajat Tokas had to take a break from the series to accommodate his studies.
- Pavitra Rishta: Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande starrer took a generation leap as Rajput decided to quit the show to pursue a career in Bollywood.It took more leaps to stay relevant to the audience.
- Ishqbaaz: Surbhi Chandna who played Anika on the show didn’t want to be a mother onscreen so the makers had to decide on taking the leap.
- Yeh Rishta kya Kehlata: At present it is longest running show and it is still going strong. It took a generation gap to show the love story of Kartik and Naira (Kaira). Further it took small leaps so that the audiences don’t get bored.
- Ishq par Zor nahi: This is the latest show to join the list of daily soaps who have taken leaps to make the story more engaging. The viewers of this Indian drama are waiting as to how will the love life of Ahaan and Ishki pan out in the future.
- Barrister Babu: This colourstv television show has managed to entertain the audience with the story Anirudh and Bondita. It has become the need of the hour for the show to take a 7 year leap in order to portray the grown up Bondita as barrister babu and also watch how the dynamics of the relationship between Anirudh and Bondita changes post this development.
- Pratigya second season: This daily soap saw one year time leap as the story was stuck at a point where a leap could only help it move forward and also assist the decreasing TRP to stabilize.
