Sherni is a thriller directed by Amit Masurkar. It is produced under the banner of Abundanita Production house. Vidya Balan plays the role of Vidya jii (female forest officer).
The trailer starts with the close up shot of the paws and the long shot of the forest and the voice over explaining the menace the tigress is causing for the villagers.
Vidya jii is sent to investigate the matter of tigress that has caused problems. The director has so beautifully shown the similarity between the struggles of the animal and Vidya jii in life. The tigress is trying to survive in the jungle fighting battles for her habitat with the humans. While Vidya even after being so capable, she has to fight a male dominated society who often fail to see a successful woman in their field of work.
We also see that the tigress gets killed and the case gets even more complicated to deal with as the people show their rage towards the forest department.
OTT platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix are trying to promote such strong content movies and this helps reach the masses.
