The popularity of Bollywood in China?


In the past the Indian market was flooded with many Chinese products. The tables have turned now. Bollywood has managed to spread its wings towards China.

In the early days Awara and Caravan were two Indian films which cast its spell on the Chinese Box office. The songs of the movie Caravan was equally responsible for pulling the Chinese audiences towards the theatres. Raj kapoor and Jitendra were the first leading man to gain popularity from the tinsel town in Chinese market.

There are two major reasons for the fondness towards Bollywood in the country:

Similar Culture: Indian movies tend to highlight the core of cultural values coupled with a strong message at the end. This is the key which attracts the Chinese. China as a country has to deal with hindrance in the pace of development due to the old-fashioned values.

The popularity of Indian Celebrities: Aamir khan enjoyed being famous with his films like Lagaan, 3 idiots, PK, Secret superstar and Dangal. A film like Taare zameen par which comments on the status of the educational system and suggests ways to deal with the problem.  In the modern era films like Hindi medium, Toilet ek prem katha, Padman, Bajrangi Bhaijan and Andhadhun were some of the films popular among the masses in China due to its strong content.
