83 is an upcoming Hindi language biographical sports film directed by Kabir Khan. The film stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev along with Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiva saqib Salem, John Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinkar Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Hardy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Amy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badri.
In the opening scene of the trailer starts with chatter among the commentators about the match against Zimbabwe where India has lost 4 wickets for just 9 runs. 83 is the cinematic piece that tells glorious tale of the historical win at the 1983 world cup. This was like a shocker for all others who were a part of the cricketing tournament.
The plot of the movie is about the Indian team along with the Captain Kapil Dev not losing hope and ultimately winning the tournament. Everyone considered India as the underdog. It is one of the most celebrated events for India as a country. I am happy and proud that the director has made the movie on it to inspire the young generation who wasn’t present to witness it.
I want to discuss two flaws that could have been avoided in order to increase the appeal of the trailer. The first one being it reveals too much information about the win. I know the outcome of the 1983 world cup is known to all the viewers but the treatment of the same in the film could have been kept under wraps. The second flaw I want to address is that the movie delves into the personal life of Kapil Dev. I felt this wasn’t necessary as the movie already has a lot to talk about as it has to cover what all team India had to go through to achieve the remarkable mark.
