Gangubai Kathiawadi is a upcoming Indian Hindi language biopic crime film. It is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali . She was a brothel owner, a strong willed woman who was herself sold to this brothel by her husband.
In the Teaser the very first shot is the night shot where the audience is introduced to setting of the movie that is Kamitipura. The makers show the character of Gangubai as a fearless female slapping and kicking men around owning the place.
After watching the teaser some movie critics feel apprehensive of Alia Bhatt as bold woman. She is very young and soft. They feel Ms Bhatt isn’t suitable for such a fierce personality in real life. To an extent I feel the same.
In my opinion the director has done a superb job with establishing Kamatipura as a dark place but he has played a gamble with the film by Choosing Alia Bhatt as the lead actor.
Bhansali is known to get away with all kinds of experimentations and also been able to pull off a successful stint at the box- office.
I feel it would unfair to judge the movie from its teaser and we should give a chance to its trailer and movie to release to see the full potential of Alia Bhatt.
The audience is used to watching the bubbly and chirpy avatar of the leading lady. It would be interesting to wait and watch whether the masses accept the actress in a serious role.
